Salt Lake City is the place to be because it has so much to offer! I have had to privilege to live near Salt Lake for the last three years and there is always so much to see and do. Not only are there many family activities to enjoy around the Salt Lake and throughout Utah, but they are also affordable.
Salt Lake City is home to the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. It is home to the Utah Bees, at the Smith’s Ballpark. If you visit Salt Lake City you need to make sure to visit Temple Square. Within the walls of the Temple Square, is the Salt Lake Tabernacle, The Beehive House, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and the LDS Visitor Center. When you are done visiting Temple square there are plenty of other things to keep you busy during your visit.
Next, on the list, I would recommend visiting the Hogle Zoo, which is a smaller zoo but has many fun exhibits. “This is the place” is right across the road and it is also fun to visit. You get to experience pioneer activities, enjoy a petting zoo and learn about the pioneer heritage all in one place. My kids keep asking to go and I am planning on taking them this summer. I have heard great things about it.
For some beauty and to get a sense of the outdoors you could also head over to the Red Butte Gardens or visit Millcreek canyon or even take your kids to Liberty Park. Salt Lake City and all of Utah is a playground for adults who love the outdoors. People enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, paddle boarding, skiing, and many other activities throughout Utah. For those who enjoy indoor activities, shopping at City Creek Mall is a fantastic place to shop until you drop. I am sure there are over 100 stores. Gateway Mall is also one of the newer malls that offer many fantastic stores to choose from. There is also Brickyard Plaza, Fashion Place Mall, and Trolley Square.
For the History Buffs, you can visit the National History Museum of Utah. You could spend hours roaming through the museum and viewing all the exhibits. The Utah State Capitol tour is also an awesome experience. The building is massive and the detail work on the building is impressive. As you Take a guided tour down the halls of the Capitol building it’s almost as you are taking a walk back through time. They have perfectly preserved pictures hanging on the walls and pristine furniture to look at as the tour guide goes over the history of Utah. It makes for a great outing!
Overall, Salt Lake City is a great place to visit with many amazing things to do and see. When you get hungry there are a few restaurants you have to try including the Red Iguana, Takashi, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and Zest Kitchen & Bar. Next time you are in town, be sure to try to hit a few things on the list. It is sure not to disappoint. Enjoy Salt Lake City with your family and friends any time of the year!
