Air Conditioning Service FAQs

Should I repair my air conditioner or replace it?

Assuming your air conditioner can be repaired, replacing it should still be a consideration based on a few factors. If your air conditioner is old and thus prone to needing repairs, increasingly expensive to repair due to availability of parts or lack of warranty, or increasingly inefficient due to wear and tear, that’s a good reason to replace it instead. The money for massive repairs could instead go to a newer, more efficient model, while in some cases, we suggest replacement as a better option. Of course, you may also choose to replace your unit if your current air conditioner simply cannot meet your needs anymore.

How can I keep my air conditioner from breaking again?

Regular maintenance can help keep your air conditioner in top condition for its full life span. This means following manufacturer guidelines for monthly user maintenance, such as replacing air filters and having professionals provide annual tune-ups. This will also identify problems early on that could become expensive repairs.

Will my air conditioner help with humidity?

Your air conditioner will push low-humidity air and thus reduce humidity. The extent to which this actually changes your home humidity will depend on whether you’re pulling in air from inside your home or not, how much your AC runs, and other factors.

Do air conditioners improve air quality?

An air conditioner can improve air quality if it dehumidifies your home enough to prevent moss growth and if its filtration is good enough to remove particles, but there are plenty of harmful particles and gases in your home that an air conditioner and its filter cannot deal with.

How long will it take to service my air conditioner?

It depends on how serious the problems with your air conditioner are! If we just need to break up a clog or swap in a common part, then it will be a short visit. If you need a rare part or from a less common unit due to age or brand, then it could take longer. In some cases, diagnosing the problem and implementing a solution may take longer if it’s not a more common source of trouble.
