Why Does My Shower Whistle
It’s been a long and tiring day and all you want to do is take a nice, hot shower and relax. So you go into your bathroom, turn on the shower, and you hear a loud highpitched whistle! Not only is this noise an unpleasant one to hear, but it can also mean that there is something wrong with your plumbing or shower head.
Problem #1 - Water Pressure
If your home is prone to having high water pressure, then you’re more than likely going to hear a highpitched whistling noise. Luckily, this problem can be fixed easily with a pressure reducing valve. Install this part near its respective water meter.
Problem #2 - Valve Opening
Head to your main water valve and see if it is fully open. If the shutoff valve is even slightly closed, you better believe that you’ll hear a whistling sound coming from your shower. If the shutoff valve is stuck, or the whistle noise continues after being opened, contact your local plumber.
Problem #3 - Malfunctioning Parts
Your showerhead is made up of many parts and if any of those pieces become loose or broken, your ears will pay the price. Take off the shower head and take it apart to look for worn out washers or missing pieces. You should also make sure that the shower head is tightly fit, up against the wall.
